This week: Light into Darkness
The next rune is "Light into darkness" ... enlightenment ... As a child I was taught, "Many kinds of darkness in this world are found" and my world view even today involves darkness and brief moments of light ... the people I work with are fighting many darknesses, internal and environmental: abuse, addiction, oppression, health concerns ... What is the meaning of light and darkness? Different for each one.
There is so much to learn while we are granted some time on the planet.
When I see the Light into Darkness rune, I always visualize light entering a dark cave... the rune looks like a cave mouth to me. (Very Socratic, on one level).
On small and large scales, everyone seeks the light ...
My father's favourite photo of himself was taken when he was out prospecting in the 1950s, on the Tulsequah River. After several hours in the dense dark forest, he emerged into the sunlight, and his heart felt so extremely glad! He asked his prospecting friend to take his photo with the sun on his face and a glad smile.
That picture will always be in my heart. Light into darkness!
